About Sex Addicts Anonymous in Idaho

A fellowship supporting sexual addiction recovery through shared experience

SAA Description

Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA) is a Twelve Step fellowship of individuals who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other so they may overcome their sexual addiction and help others recover from sexual addiction and dependency in Boise, Meridian, and throughout Idaho.

SAA was founded in 1977 and has since grown to include meetings across the United States and around the world. The SAA fellowship follows the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to help individuals find freedom from compulsive sexual behaviors.

The SAA Program for Sexual Addiction Recovery

The primary objective of Sex Addicts Anonymous in Idaho is to stop addictive sexual behavior and to help others recover from sexual addiction. We offer a message of hope to anyone in Boise, Meridian, and throughout Idaho who suffers from the consequences of compulsive sexual behavior.

SAA uses the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous as the foundation of our recovery. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior and begin a journey toward sexual sobriety.

Growth & Recovery from Sexual Addiction

Finding hope and healing through a proven program for overcoming compulsive sexual behaviors

Our Approach to Sexual Addiction Recovery in Idaho

In Sex Addicts Anonymous throughout Idaho, we define sobriety as freedom from our addictive sexual behaviors. Sobriety in SAA means different things to different people. Each member is encouraged to develop their own definition of sexual sobriety, often with the help of a sponsor or others in recovery from sexual addiction.

We have found that open and honest discussion of our sexual behavior with other recovering sex addicts is an essential part of our recovery journey. Through this sharing, we come to know our own personal behaviors that signal danger for us. These behaviors make up our personal "inner circle" of addictive sexual behaviors we seek to avoid.

The SAA program offers a way to develop a healthy sexuality and overcome compulsive sexual behaviors. We work the Twelve Steps of recovery to change our relationship with ourselves, others, our sexuality, and our Higher Power, finding freedom from sexual addiction.
